On January 14, 2014 AUArts, in partnership with the Globe and Mail, screened the 2013 Cannes Golden Lions.

The Cannes Golden Lions are the best commercials of the year as voted on by a panel of advertising industry experts. In 2013 a record 35,765 entries were received. Of these entries, only 68 make the Golden Lions reel.

"The art of grabbing one’s attention requires talent, skills, techniques and exceptional storytelling acumen," explains Dr. Daniel Doz, President and CEO of AUArts. "The commercials that are presented here not only sell their product but more importantly provide an experience, an attitude, a vision, a hope, or even a dream."

The commercials were being shown on a 16ft x 9ft screen, suspended in the university’s main mall. Admission for the event was a $5 suggested donation and the money raised supported the National Advertising Benevolent Society (NABS).
