About the Artist

Oliver has a MA in Fine Art Printmaking and a MPhil from the Royal College of Art in London. Her work has been exhibited internationally at such venues as: Blackheath Gallery in London, European Center for the Arts in Dresden, and Copernicus Science Center in Warsaw. Her work, which mixes contemporary print media, craft and new technologies, belongs in the collections

Artists Statement

The hero’s tale is an intriguing concept; it is a reoccurring theme embedded in nearly every human story describing a downtrodden yet virtuous figure and their path in overcoming obstacles to arrive at success. This narrative describes the core characters journey of all religions, countless mythologies, and all of the Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter series.

Visiting Artist | Bee Kingdom

WHEN: Tuesday, October 24, 2017, from 7 until 8 p.m.

WHERE: Room 340, ACAD

Calgary-based artist duo Phillip Bandura and Ryan Fairweather comprise the Bee Kingdom Hot Glass Studio. They will present their work and self-promotional tactics that they use to get it out there in Professional Practices for Artists.

Bee Kingdom is doing a public talk at ACAD on October 24th from 7-8 pm in room 340, they will be using the Lecture hall and introducing students to self-promotion techniques in the arts.

Bus Tour to Indigenous Landmarks

WHEN: Saturday, October 21, 2017, from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.

WHERE: Calgary and Southern Alberta

A bus tour to Indigenous Landmarks will take participants on a tour through Calgary and surrounding areas to discuss and explore significant Indigenous landmarks.

This event will be activated by Brittney and Richelle Bear Hat, Reg and Rose Crowshoe, Laurie Somerville and Troy Emery Twigg.

The tour will pick up participants at both UofC (in the main bus loop at 8:30 a.m.) and ACAD (front entrance 9:10 a.m.) and travel to the following landmarks:
