Join us online for a live-session web event
During this time our Recruitment and Admissions Team are working remotely to help flatten the curve of COVID-19. We are available Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. MST. (except during holidays) and would love to connect with you either one-on-one through our video conferencing platform or through one of our interactive live sessions. The web conferencing tool we use is Microsoft Teams. Once you register for an AUArts online event, we will send you a link so you can either download the application or connect directly on your web-browser.

Bachelor of Fine Arts Program | Web Presentation Live-Session
Learn more about our acclaimed BFA program, and the nine different areas of concentration. This presentation will be led by Ethan Peters, our very own AUArts' BFA Alumni, who will share the inside scoop, and personal experiences he encountered while completing this program.
Bachelor of Design Program | Web Presentation Live-Session
Learn more about how our Photography and Visual Communications Design majors prepare students for successful careers as professionals in the discipline, practice, and culture of photography and design. This presentation will be led by Kayley Istace, our very own AUArts' BDES Alumni, who will share some of her personal experiences, challenges and successes - from application to graduation - in this competitive degree program.
Portfolio Prep Workshop | Web Presentation Live-Session
Does the word “portfolio” stress you out? Don’t worry, we know you are going to do great! But in case you need some additional support in preparing your portfolio, we've got you covered. Join our AUArts Alumni, and now Student Recruiter, Ethan Peters - as he provides you with some portfolio tips, tricks and examples to help me make your portfolio submission even stronger. All you will need is access to the internet to participate!
Artstream Certificate Program | Web Presentation Live-Session
The Artstream Certificate Program is designed to provide a bridge to an art and design education for applicants who do not meet AUArts’ academic and/or English proficiency requirements for First Year Undergraduate Studies, but who demonstrate satisfactory levels of art portfolio achievement. AUArts Student Residence @ SAIT Residence Tour | Web Presentation Live-Session
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic we understand that many of our international or out-of-town applicants have not had a chance to come and tour the Student Residence. Join us for a live tour of the designated section of East Hall Residence - just for AUArts students from the comfort of your own home!
Living in on-campus residence means you will be able to have an AU Arts roommate, plus have full access to the shared Arts Studio in the building.with your application. This live-session will be led by an associate from SAIT Residence who will be able to answer questions about on-campus residence housing for AUArts students.
International Application Information Session and Q&A | Web Presentation Live-Session
Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic we understand that many of our international or out-of-province applicants are feeling unsure about what is next for their application and plans to study at Alberta University of the Arts in Calgary. Whether you have questions about about your application, Canadian Study Visa requirements or anything else about the process for international admission to Alberta University of the Arts – this Live-Session is for you! Join two members of the Admissions and Recruitment Team for an information, and Q&A session to help you in progressing with your application.
We will also be joined by an associate from SAIT Residence who will be able to answer questions about on-campus residence housing for AUArts students.
How to Apply to AUArts | Web Presentation Live-Session
Applying to university can be overwhelming - especially when you can't come in to the campus for help. This interactive, live-session webinar will provide you with step-by-step direction on how to apply to AUArts. Our Admissions team will be able to show you the process of the online application through Apply Alberta, how to access your Alberta Student Number and what to expect as next steps once you have submitted your online application. This webinar will provide you with a visual so that you can complete your application successfully before the deadlines. After all, aren't we all visual learners?
We will also go over the application requirements for each of our programs and provide you with the opportunity to ask us questions about AUArts and the application process.
AUArts Current Student & Alumni Ambassadors Panel "Our Advice for New Students" | Live-Session
Join us to hear from a panel of AUArts Student Ambassadors - all who have just recently graduated or are about to graduate from our undergraduate degree programs. They will share their personal experiences as students and provide you with some advice they wish they had coming in to their first year at Alberta University of the Arts. This is a live session where we encourage you to interact with us - so bring your burning questions for the Student and Alumni panelists!
2020 Online Portfolio Reviews
Join us for our online Portfolio Review Day where you will get an opportunity to review your portfolio with our Admissions Committee to make it even stronger!
Our team is available Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (Mountain Standard Time) to do a 20 minute review with you via MS Teams online.
Once we have provided you with a date and time for your review we will send you an MS Teams link so that you can join your meeting with your reviewer. At the time of your review, please ensure you log-in 5-10 minutes early, and are ready with your artwork, a computer, internet access, and a microphone so you can have a conversation with our team member. A web camera is also highly recommended.
Your portfolio should consist of 12 pieces of recent, original artwork such as sketch-books, photography, 3D-sculptures or ceramics, paintings, digital drawings, animation or any other medium you work with.
We also love to see works-in-progress as it’s a great way to learn about your process. The artwork should be ready to present either as digital images to share on your screen or the physical pieces to be shown via live-camera. Please ensure you have a camera and microphone for your review so you can interact with the faculty member.

Come for a tour
General tours and information sessions
During the school year (September - April) campus tours and information sessions are available most Wednesdays and Fridays at 4:30 p.m (with the tour portion starting at 5:00 pm). During the Spring/Summer months (May - August) a limited schedule of campus tours will be available. Tours are led by our very own Student Ambassadors and are most suitable for students in Grade 11 and up. Parents, family, and friends are welcome to attend.
Tour and info session agenda
4:30 p.m. - 5 p.m. We will start with a 30-minute information session covering topics such as features and benefits of attending AUArts, admissions and portfolio submission criteria and you will hear from an AUArts alumni about their personal experience completing their education at AUArts.
5 p.m. - 6 p.m. The walking tour includes the use of stairways - so be ready to get your steps in for the day! The walking tour will focus on the studios and services of most relevance to new or incoming AUArts students. If you or someone in your group require modification to use the elevators instead of stairs please let us know prior to your tour so we can make arrangements to accommodate you.
Expect to be with us for approximately 90 minutes in total, however, if you would like to schedule some extra time to meet one-on-one with one of our Admissions and Recruitment team members we are happy to coordinate that for you either before or after the allotted time for the presentation and tour. Sat-TOUR-days are special, student-led tours of the AUArts campus, that happen on – you guessed it! – Saturdays. They’re a great way to get to know AUArts. You’ll spend about an hour and a half with us, getting an insider’s tour of our studios and facilities by current students who will tell you what it’s really like to go to school here. Our Student Ambassador will be able to answer any questions you might have about our programs and applications process. This tour will not include an information session, however, the Student Ambassador will be able to stay after the tour is completed to answer any additional questions you have about AUArts.

Enter the ShowOff! Art Competition
There are over $30,000 in prizes to be won – including tuition for AUArts – at this unique competition for students in grade 10, 11 and 12.
The submission deadline for ShowOff! 2020 has now closed. Please join us to view the exhibition in our Main Mall March 11-23.
In this fast moving and uncertain public health pandemic situation, the safety of our AUArts community members is our top priority. As a precaution the ShowOff! 2020 awards ceremony on Saturday, March 14 from 1-4 p.m. was cancelled.
