Illustrator, author, designer, and instructor

Continuing Education Instructor, Lyndsay Wasko

Lyndsay Wasko’s work explores themes of childlike discovery and thoughtful observation of nature and her intention is to inspire greater appreciation and respect for the natural world we all share.

As part of this mandate, she has worked closely with Parks Canada to promote conservation through interactive museum exhibits and educational illustration.

Lyndsay graduated with a Bachelor of Communication Design from the Alberta University of the Arts and is currently pursuing a Masters of Library Studies at the University of Alberta.

In 2019 she was selected as Calgary Public Library’s Children's Illustrator in Residence from which she published her second children’s book “Best Nest.”

Outside of academic pursuits, she works as a designer and illustrator at Daughter Creative, where her work has been internationally recognized in Applied Arts and Communication Arts publications.

In her spare time Lyndsay enjoys cozy video games, D&D, YouTube video essays and generally aspires to the life of a Beatrix Potter animal: baking, sewing, gardening, and exploring nature.

Children's Book Illustration

"In my children's book illustration course we will cover everything! From improving our art through better character and setting design, how to work with an author and a manuscript, thumbnailing layouts, using colour and movement for emotional effect, developing your style and professional polish, and then the nuts and bolts of book design and how to work with publishers, writers, agents, and everyone in-between." - Lyndsay
