ACAD supports "Reel Diverse" a FREE - five day Film Workshop in March. APPLY TODAY!

ACAD's School of Continuing Education + Professional Development is proud to support Reel Diverse  a 5 day, hands-on workshop hosted at ACAD  for 10 aspiring filmmakers between the ages of 18 to 25 who have a powerful and compelling story to tell the world with diversity as the theme.

Dates: Weekends, all day: March 5, 6, 12, 13 & 19 at ACAD.

Participants will produce short movies that explore diversity in film from behind the lens and have access to facilities, equipment plus a diverse group of industry professionals from Canada and the United States.
Highly creative individuals with some Filmmaking experience as well as Actors, Directors, Writers, Editors, Cinematographers and everyone in between are encouraged to attend. Having well rounded experiences in the many roles will be an advantage.
The workshop will be held at the Alberta College of Arts and Design (ACAD), a key partner as well as at The Beach sound recording facility. The initiative is proudly supported by TELUS, with a grant provided through Optik Local’s Training Workshops and Events program.
Suza Singh, founder of Reel Diverse, is a passionate independent filmmaker, musician and educator committed to incorporating Diversity and Equality into all her projects. Suza says “I actively promote equality on every level.” She believes there are many stories waiting to be told that have the power to elevate and inspire a generation. “We can shape society through our own narratives and direct our future with more diversity in film,” When Suza completed her first independent adventure action movie Future Shift, the greatest pleasure came from working with people from varied backgrounds in such a positive and collaborative manner. She points out that; “Some people might think it was just a movie, but to me it was an indication of how life can really be.”
