ACAD welcomes first "Craft at the Cutting Edge" Artist-in-Residence
ACAD is pleased to welcome Katrin Steiger, our first "Craft at the Cutting Edge" Artist-in-Residence!
Katrin is currently an art and design instructor at the Bauhaus-University in Weimar, Germany and will be visiting ACAD for six weeks from now until Monday, October 17. She will develop a fibre-based project entitled, "Boot Camp C", a studio training camp, where she will use crochet, dye and weaving techniques in an experimental way to create an urban camouflage suit.
"I'm looking forward to seeing your fantastic fibre studios, meeting with the students, academic faculty and the ACAD community as well as fostering a relationship between the Bauhaus-University Weimar and ACAD", said Steiger.
She plans to introduce her work and project in a presentation to ACAD in the Sanford Perrot Lecture on Thursday, September 15 from 4 - 5 p.m. and the final exhibition and performance will occur on Friday, October 14.
Stay tuned for more exciting updates!
