AUArts Partners with ATB Art Vault to create “Joy”

Alberta University of the Arts has partnered with ATB Art Vault to create “Joy”, a free alumni exhibition showcasing artwork by six AUArts alum and their experiences with Joy (a feeling of pleasure and happiness).

Visit the exhibition between Thursday, July 8 – Sunday, August 29, to view each artist’s work. The displayed artwork embodies the relationships each artist feels with the Joy in their lives including Joy in making, culture, disability, historical references and life.

Featured Alumni artists include:

•    Daniel Labutes: ceramic vase, JOY in making
•    Jiaqi Xie: 3 ceramics, symbols of cultural JOY
•    Janira Moncayo: video with sound, celebration of cultural and marginalized peoples JOY
•    Naomi Fong: paintings of cats in garden, disability JOY
•    Emma Kilburn-Smith: mixed media/embroidery, JOY found in polaroid’s of people throughout history
•    Banafsheh Khalesi Mohseni: abstract painting, JOY in making/life

This exhibition can be viewed at the ATB Stephen Avenue Centre Art Vault Gallery between between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on the corner of Stephen Avenue and Centre Street S.W.
