Convocation and Grad Show 2021

After much consultation and continuing to make safety our first priority aligned with public health guidelines, I would like to announce:

  • Convocation 2021 will be held on May 27 from 11:00 AM to noon as planned, with a virtual ceremony similar to last year. We can all celebrate the success of our graduating class from anywhere, safely. A recording will be posted for later viewing.
  • Grad Show 2021 will be virtual, building on last year’s very successful purpose-built platform which offered graduands significant profile of multiple works, and one year of exposure on the site.

Additionally, the graduate’s feature piece will be professionally displayed in the IKG and viewed by a 360-degree virtual tour of the entire show.
Other ways to celebrate were considered, including in-person celebrations, however, given current and anticipated public health guidelines, this is just not possible. Our decisions were guided by results of a graduating class survey, and guidance from many including the Student Affairs Committee of the General Faculties Council and the Student Services/Student Life subcommittee of the Recovery Management Team. Students, faculty and staff sit on these committees.
The Class of 2020 and Class of 2021 will be invited to walk across the stage in 2022, assuming the state of the pandemic allows for this.
We will ensure this milestone celebration is memorable and unique. I look forward to celebrating the Class of 2021 with all of you on May 27!
More details will be shared as they become available.
