From the Desk of Dr. Doz: A Note of Thanks
Alberta's Auditor General recently reported on an audit of post-secondary institutions in the province. I am very pleased to share the news that the report was positive for ACAD.
The administration and Board of Governors has worked very hard over the past five years to substantially improve its internal control environment and related financial management practices to meet the standards of audit expected by the Office of the Auditor General. Despite being faced with limited resources on a number of fronts, this work has been a priority both for our administration and Board. In 2015 the College implemented four of the five remaining recommendations for improving its controls and is working to address the remaining one by the fall of 2016.
It is gratifying to know that this hard work has paid off and has achieved the level of rigor and standard of effective control environments expected by the Auditor General. The recognition that ACAD is now one of the institutions which has “no identified significant weaknesses in its control environment" is significant and a testament to all the work undertaken by many staff.
We will continue to be diligent in our stewardship of public funds, our financial accountability and our internal processes to sustain the good results achieved.
Congratulations and thank you to everyone involved.
