IKG | Call for donations | shifting shelter

AUArts’ Illingworth Kerr Gallery (IKG) is pleased to announce Vessna Perunovich’s Shifting Shelter opens Thursday, September 12.

Shifting Shelter establishes a thoughtful introduction to the politics of transcultural migrations in the oscillating global system, at a crossroads where displacement manifests itself as one of the predominant geopolitical characteristics of living generations.

The gallery is looking for donations of furniture/household items to help create a large installation that will be painted black. The items should have some character and not be too modern or new. Wood/Metal items are preferred as they are easier to paint. Items like:

  • Chairs
  • Small tables/desks
  • Small wardrobes/drawers/cabinets
  • Coat racks
  • Benches
  • Lamps
  • Mirrors (looking for oval and circle, framed ok)
  • Crutches/balls/oars or other household items

Check out images of the installation for context and connect with Cassandra.Paul@auarts.ca if you have any questions or would like to arrange a pick-up/drop-off.

This is your chance to be a part of a striking art installation in the city!

Thank you for your consideration and save the date for the opening reception on Thursday, September 12 from 5 until 8 p.m.

This exhibition is generously supported by the Ontario Arts Council
