Les Graff: Paintings and Drawings 1983 - 1993

The business of art-making has become for me, a yearly ritual.  

July - October - 'on location' landscape oil studies 
- studio developed variations of oil studies 
- 'multi location' pencil drawings and sketches 

November - studio developed series of large charcoal drawings 
 
December - April - studio developed oil paintings/canvas  

I use drawings as a means of developing 'graphic' form. I use color as a means of developing 'contextual' form. Most ideas and concepts are developed through series (variations upon a theme). Each Spring I clean out the studio, file the work away in the basement, and with a 'clean slate' start the process all over again. I've been doing this for nearly 40 years.
