Illingworth Kerr GalleryOther Ramifications: Paintings and Drawings by John Clark
Other Ramifications: Paintings and Drawings by John Clark, is a selection of works which have had little or no public exposure, particularly in Western Canada.
John Clark moved to Canada in 1978 to teach painting at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, after which he returned to England as head of painting at Hull College. In 1986 he accepted a position at the University of Lethbridge where he taught until his untimely death in 1989. He left behind a valuable legacy through his teaching, his writing about art, and his paintings which, in his last years had begun to reflect the wide spaces and intense light of the prairie.
This exhibition has been organized by the Southern Alberta Art Gallery with funding assistance from the Canada Council and the Alberta Foundation for the Arts. Guest curated by Rosemary Preuss.
