Visual Reality – Some Designs from the Real World

Various Artists

Coordinated by Charles Cousins, the exhibition showcases some of Calgary's street level designers and non-designers as they vie for small independent/alternative crowds on low - or no - budgets.

Posters, T-shirts and cover art for 7-inch singles, CD's and tapes will be on display. Works by Pat Andrews, Tom Bagley, Peter Moller andJohn Sawyer will be featured, as well as band and publicity posters from the Republik Nightclub, the Ship & Anchor Pub, Ten Foot Henry's and the Warehouse Night Club, spanning over ten years.

The exhibition is complimented by Cheap Date: A Multimedia Fashion Extravaganza presented at the Warehouse Private Club on Sunday, December 15 at 10 p.m .. Guests are welcome for this event. This fashion show, produced for the Illingworth Kerr Gallery by Pamela Klaffke will focus on attire purchased from many of Calgary's bargain emporiums (Zellers, WAL-MART, K-mart, Saan, Army & Navy, Met Mart, Fields) as well as vintage cocktail dresses from Blue Light Special. The show includes guerrilla-style Super-8 shopping footage by Calgary filmmakers David Christensen and John Hazlett (producer: The Suburbanators). There is a fee of $3 for Warehouse members and $5 for non-members. Students from the Alberta College of Art & Design will be admitted free with a valid College i.d .
