Alberta University of the Arts is pleased to announce Works-in-Progress, a conference that aims to bring together faculty and graduate researchers as well as artists, designers, and cultural workers from across Calgary. It seeks to advance new and emergent research that engages with art, craft, design, and/or the creative industries whether in a historical, contemporary, practice-based, or theoretical capacity. The conference offers a critical opportunity to share and engage in discussion of research that is in process rather than completed.
Thematically open, we welcome contributions from researchers and practitioners working across disciplinary and professional fields including but not limited to:
- Studio Art
- Craft
- Design
- Art History and Visual Culture
- Cinema and Media Studies
- English/Literature
- Curatorial/Museum Studies
- Education
Proposals comprised of a title, abstract (<300 words), and short bio (<100 words) may be submitted for any of the follow presentation formats.
- 15-minute Scholarly Paper
- 7-minute Lightening Talk
- Workshop
- Performance
- Screening
