He has exhibited his textile work in Canada, China, Japan, Korea and the United States. Mackenzie has written texts for various publications including Prairie Interlace: Weaving, Modernisms and the Expanded Frame and Textile: The Journal of Cloth and Culture. He is currently Associate Professor in the School of Craft & Emerging Media at the Alberta University of the Arts and President of the Guild of Canadian Weavers. Mackenzie lives in Mohkinstsis (Calgary), Canada with his husband Kristofer and daughter Elizabeth.
