Four Alberta University of the Arts faculty members have been awarded Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Insight Development Grants, recognizing innovative research that advances knowledge in the humanities and social sciences.
SSHRC Insight Development Grants support early-stage research projects, helping scholars explore new research questions, experiment with emerging methods and develop innovative theoretical approaches over projects lasting up to two years.
The AUArts recipients from the February 2026 Insight Development Grants competition are:
Ashley Scarlett (Associate Professor, Liberal Studies) and Mackenzie Kelly-Frère (Professor, Fibre and BFA '98, Textiles) for The Warped Histories of Computerization: Charting Genealogical Intersections of Weaving, Computing, and Discourses of Automation.
Kara Stone (Associate Professor, Liberal Studies) for Greenhouse: Low-Carbon Game Jam.
Yoke-Sum Wong (Professor, Liberal Studies) for Insurgent Rememories: Weaving Multi-textual Narratives of the Malayan Emergency (1948–1960).
