Calgary, Alberta: Alberta University of the Arts has officially launched its annual ShowOff! art competition for high school students in Grade 10, 11 and 12. Students across Canada have the chance to win exciting prizes including university entrance award scholarships and grants to directly support their high school art programs.
ShowOff! invites eligible students registered at a recognized Canadian high school to develop individual art pieces using whichever medium they prefer to be judged by a jury panel. Successful applicants have the chance to win more than $20,000 in prizes, including the Grand Prize, “Best in Show” - an AUArts scholarship worth $5,000.
To enter, submit images of up to three individual pieces of your original artwork, with detailed descriptions of what each piece means to you and how you created it, accompanied by a letter of recommendation from one of your teachers.
Winners of AUArts ShowOff! will be selected by a committee of practising arts professionals, AUArts faculty and alumni. Winning work will be assessed based on imagination and ambition, as well as demonstrated excellence in the selected medium and the expression of their idea.
Finalists will be showcased at this year's ShowOff! exhibition. The exhibition will open online in March 2022. Students selected to participate will be contacted directly with further instructions. Winners of AUArts ShowOff! tuition credit awards must apply and be admitted to AUArts for Fall 2022. Grade 10 and 11 students bursaries for AUArts' Continuing Education teen programming or custom art packs filled with your choice of high-quality materials.
