AUArts student wins ATA International Award

AUArts student Zajren Aina Paguergan has won the 2022 American Tapestry Alliance (ATA) International Student Award. Zajren's art focuses on the role of food and cultural identity exploring how food is a gateway to learning about a new culture.

The ATA International Student Award is presented annually to a student enrolled in a college/university fiber program. The award winner receives $750, an article published on ATA’s website and a one year student membership with the American Tapestry Alliance.

A panel of judges evaluate submissions using the following criteria: excellence in tapestry technique, an awareness of the textile ‘language’ and creativity in imagery.

Zajren's story will be published in the fall issue of Tapestry Topics.
