Jenifer Darbellay Memorial Award Fundraiser

The Jenifer Darbellay Memorial Award fundraiser Online bidding is now open!

The Fibre Program are raising funds for the Jenifer Darbellay Memorial Award with a wearable-art-themed silent auction. They have received over 40 submissions from AUArts alumni, Jen’s theatre colleagues, her friends and family, and our current students. Available works include custom-dyed garments, woven scarves, jewellery, paintings, and more.

The Jenifer Darbellay Memorial Award has been initiated by Jenifer’s former classmates as a tribute to Jenifer’s life and work as an artist and costume designer. The award will directly support AUArts students pursuing a fibre concentration.

Then join us in person on April 9 from 5 to 7:30 PM at Alberta University of the Arts for the closing reception and final bidding. If you’re in Calgary and the surrounding area, you won’t want to miss this event.
That same evening, there is an opening at Illingworth Kerr Gallery for the MFA Craft Media Thesis exhibition, and the Fibre and Jewellery & Metals students will be showing their work throughout the Main Mall.

Jenifer Darbellay was an AUArts alum (Diploma Textiles 1996/BFA Textiles 1997) who graduated with distinction and received the Board of Governors’ Award.

A black and white photo of Jenifer Darbellay. She has chin-length curly blonde hair and is wearing sunglasses on her head. The photo appears to be a selfie as Jenifer's gaze is not directly at the viewer. She is smiling and looks at ease.
