Student Work Experience Position in Advancement

Alberta University of the Arts turns 100 in 2026! We are looking to hire a current AUArts student who can help with research to find alumni and former employees and volunteers, as well as help with other centennial-related projects.

You would assist with finding and compiling AUArts Alumni names and program information from when the University went by Provincial Institute of Technology and Art (PITA), Alberta College of Art (ACA) and Alberta College of Art and Design (ACAD). You will digitize and document all alumni information from past yearbooks and files stored at SAIT and AUArts as well as do basic research on each alumnus to compile their current contact information. Tasks and duties include:

  • Locate PITA, ACA and ACAD yearbooks at SAIT and AUArts Library
  • Digitize records (if not previously digitized)
  • Create an Excel document to list Alumni names and diploma/degree programs and years
  • Using Google and other research tools

You will also assist with other centennial-related projects.

 

Qualifications:

To qualify, you must be a current AUArts student or registered for an upcoming semester. This position occurs during summer break and during the 2023-24 Academic year.  

  • Excellent at online research and use of research tool
  • Experienced with Adobe Acrobat and Excel programs
  • Basic time management
  • Ability to think critically
  • Ability to work alone

 

Reporting Structure:

You will report to the Vice President Advancement, but you will work with other Advancement team members.

 

Term:

There is one role available starting immediately. During the academic year you could work up to 10 hours per week. During the current summer break, you could work up to full time.

Salary:

These exempt casual positions pay an hourly rate of $17.73 (plus 6% vacation pay). Shifts may range from 3 to 7 hours per day to a maximum of 10 hours/week during the Fall 2023 term depending on availability. Additional hours may be available for Spring/Summer months.  Please note that as this position is casual in nature there will be no guarantee of hours or a regular schedule.
