The Effect of FearOil on Canvas In our art class, we were asked to create a painting that combined two of our greatest fears. This piece mainly explores the fear that my twin sister one day may not be in my life anymore, and how that will affect me. In the vase, there are two carnations, which each represent the two of us and our close relationship. The pink carnation is wilted, symbolizing the possibility of my sister dying or being in another horrible situation. In the reflection, only the purple carnation remains, now wilted, highlighting how my sister’s absence would negatively affect me in many ways. This piece specifically reflects my fear of losing my sister; however, this fear extends to everyone in my life that I care about. My fear has a great impact on my life, and I tend to revolve lots of the decisions that I make around the safety of my family and friends because of it. |
