HAPPINESS

Pencil, chalk

This photo was taken when I was two and a half years old in my yard back home in Qingdao, China.  My mom gave me that  haircut, which looks funny to me now, but I think I was quite happy with it at the time and with playing freely in the dirt.
The artwork was created with graphite, and is my first graphite portrait. I chose this photograph of myself because of how happy I looked and I added fluorescent chalk colors to the background to create a cheerful tone to reflect my emotions at the time.
