Popped Punk

Pencil Crayon

This piece, "popped punk'' is a representation of interests in cosmetology, photography, and traditional drawing, as well as a subtle reference to 1990's pop art and alternative communities tied together into one composition. The subject is a close friend styled in hair and makeup then photographed. And then  finally drawn and abstracted to create a unique piece using dots, strong colors, and geometric shapes as a statement.

Bringing more punk and alternative looks into traditional art lights, is something that fulfills me and shows who I am as an artist;  in showing to the world a style often looked down upon, and showing the beauty and color in it that others often might miss at first glance.

Being able to bring a friend into a hobby I care about deeply felt incredibly special and especially being able to manipulate everything from the hair down to the mediums used was just such fun challenge to walk through step by step and really helped to be able to bring  everything together.
