Nothing Lasts FloweverGouache I created a painting of flowers which are placed in a vase in order to showcase the idea of how nothing in life will last forever, no matter how long one may try to preserve it. The flowers in the vase look bright, however, they’re starting to become wilted. Although the flower food packet does prolong its life for a bit longer, it is inevitable that the flowers will eventually fully wilt and have to be thrown away. So, beauty and everything we have in our life is temporary, thus, we should try to enjoy every second of it as much as we can. While working on this painting, I tried to make it look like the flowers popping out towards the audience, as if they were actually there in person. I also tried to capture the look of older paintings by mimicking the cracks that they have on my own. Overall, this painting showcases my desire to live in the moment. I want to be able to cherish every single friendship, connection, and so on. These moments will be ingrained into my memory, giving me something that I can look back on, and thus, something that feels “permanent”. |
