When Bombs Learned To GlowAcrylic paint, color pencils, soft pastel, organza, glitter paper When my art teacher told us to paint how we see the present time, I could not help but think about the uneasy fate my country has been facing for the last twelve years and now. I intended to represent the girl as my nation, including not only people, but also the land, homes, and animals that suffered because of the violence and war. Her skin is burned and torn in the same way like windows that are left after explosions. I meant to make the bombs look like glowing stars, emphasizing on the tragedy that cannot be ignored. The painting raises an awareness for Ukrainian people that are currently suffering under russian attacks, and ultimately conveys my feelings of grief and loss. |
