Melancholic MermaidAcrylic painting My painting is the reimagine of Cabanel’s The Fallen Angel. I replaced the traditional figure with a melancholic mermaid as symbolism for isolation and lost divinity. The mermaid further adds a whimsical element turning the painting into a surrealism piece. Within the painting, I incorporated a rusty rose gold clock in the shape of a sun, as it adds a haunting and dreamlike mood. To me, the clock is a countdown showing the decay of time, as with every tick time flows away, never to return. |
