Female UnfoldingClay, Glaze, Acrylic paint and plastic flowers As someone who has felt so out of place in my own body, I wanted to voice my own frustrations with a mask. Society’s perception of gender is like a trap, it suffocates you and traps you till you are forced to hide who you truly are. This mask in particular is meant to embody that disgust, and the anger that falls around the ideas of gender dysphoria. How I have felt disgusted in my body and how being perceived as female has further pushed me to shut my true self from others because I would be too afraid of others and even myself. The mask is meant to embody the distaste of one's own physical body as they bloom to become something entirely new and beautiful. |
