Prairie Interlace - Curator’s Talk and Book Launch

Learn more

Join a fascinating curator’s talk and book launch as we celebrate the publication of Prairie Interlace: Weaving, Modernisms, and the Expanded Frame, 1960-2000.

Prairie Interlace: Weaving, Modernisms, and the Expanded Frame, 1960-2000 features essays by several past/present AUArts faculty, including Jennifer Salahub, Mireille Perron, Julia Krueger and Mackenzie Kelly-Frère, among others. Several authors will be there and will speak briefly to their chapters following the curator’s talk.

Innovative textile-based artwork exploded across the Canadian Prairies in the second half of the twentieth century. Melding craft traditions with modern art and theory, this fascinating art movement has, until now, been largely overlooked.

Join Michele Hardy, Timothy Long, and Julia Kruger for a curator’s talk and book launch celebrating Prairie Interlace: Weaving, Modernisms, and the Expanded Frame, 1960-2000, a beautiful and deeply engaging book developed from the travelling exhibition of the same name exploring the rich history of textile artwork on the Canadian Prairie.
