English Requirements for Bachelor's Degrees

To be accepted into AUArts’ bachelor's degree programs, you’ll need to demonstrate proficiency in English by meeting one of the following requirements:

  • High School - Successful completion of at least two years of full-time instruction in a high school where English is the language of instruction, including a minimum of 60% final grade in a grade 12 English course or equivalent.

  • Post Secondary - Successful completion of one year of full-time instruction at a post-secondary institution where English is the language of instruction, including a minimum passing grade of 60% in a Grade 12 English course or its equivalent.

  • English Language Pathway Program - Successful completion of ALH General English Level 5 with our English language pathway partner Anne's Language House (ALH)

 

  • Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) - A score of 70 or higher on the Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL) assessment, or a score of 70 or higher on the computer edition (CAEL CE)

  • Cambridge English Qualifications - A score of 176 or higher on Cambridge B2 First, C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency

  • Duolingo English Test - A score of 120 or higher on the Duolingo English Test.

  • International English Language Test (IELTS) - A score of 6.5 or higher overall on the International English Language Test (IELTS).

  • Pearson Test of English (PTE) - A score of 56 or higher on the PTE Academic or Online Test

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - A score of 83 or higher on an official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) on the Internet-based test (iBT), with a minimum score of 20 in each of the four testing sections, or 220 on the computer-based test (CBT). TOEFL institution code is 0595.
