Who can borrow from the Luke Lindoe Library?

AUArts students (part, full and con-ed), faculty, staff, members of The Alberta Library (TAL), and the general public can access the library. Each group has different membership requirements, privileges, and borrowing times.

 

How do I sign out books and materials?

AUArts students, faculty, and staff

  1. Present a valid AUArts ID card

The Alberta Library (TAL) Users

  1. Present a valid TAL card (register for a TAL card)

TAL cardholders may access E-resources on campus, but do NOT have remote access

Community Users (non-TAL)

  1. Present photo ID with current address information to register for Community User Card

  1. Pay a yearly fee of $25

What materials do I have access to?

The Luke Lindoe Library has several types of collections, with different rules for access and borrowing:

  • General circulation - three weeks.

  • Closed Reserves - two hours, two items at a time, in-library use only.

  • Archive materials - two hours, one item at a time, in-library use only.

  • Videos - overnight.

 

How many items can I borrow?

AUArts faculty, students, and staff

25 items at any one time

TAL members and the general public

Five (5) items at any one time

 

How long can I borrow library resources for?

AUArts students, faculty and staff

  • Three weeks.

  • Two renewals.

  • After the initial three-week loan period, items that have holds put on by other borrowers must be returned.

TAL and Community Users

  • Three-week loan period

  • No renewals

 

How do I request an item that is currently on loan to someone else?

If you're an AUArts student, faculty, or staff member, you can request an item currently on loan to someone else online through the library catalogue. Follow these instructions on how to request library items online.

All library members can request items by contacting library@auarts.ca, calling 403.284.7667, or visiting the library in person.

 

How do I renew resources?

Only AUArts students, faculty and staff may renew library resources. Renew borrowed items online through My Library Account in the library catalogue. Learn more about My Library Account and more useful features of the library catalogue.

Borrowed items requested by other patrons must be returned on their due dates and are not renewable. Contact the library for help with renewals.

 

How do I pay overdue and other library fines?

Pay fines in person at the library front desk. For more information, go to Paying library fines.

 

Can I borrow items from other libraries?

Yes! If you are an AUArts student, faculty or staff member, request The Alberta Library (TAL) card from the library front desk or request an Interlibrary Loan (ILL).

 

Can I request an item be added to the library?

We welcome your assistance with developing our collection. Suggestions for new acquisitions (in any format, i.e. books, magazines, films etc.) can be sent in utilizing this online form, or by emailing library@auarts.ca.
