Moment in Time
My work captures a personal memory of me and my grandfather who recently passed. I was motivated to paint this moment after the realization that I do not vividly remember much of the time I spent with my grandfather when I was younger.
During the time I spent painting , I was able to experiment with a new medium, oil paints. It allowed me to capture every detail in the image, as well as add my own style towards the picture. I focused on the individuals in the picture by giving it a black background, which gave it more meaning. Throughout the process, I spent most of my time on the faces, making sure they were easily recognizable for other members of my family in order for them to be impacted the same way I was while painting.
