Winter SpellInspired by traditional Slavic mythology, this piece captures the essence of the goddess of death and bringer of winter, Marzanna. My aim was to showcase the misunderstood, often hated, aspects of her character and hope the viewer can find some way to connect to those traits as I did. The intricacy and detail found within this work stems from my goal to create an artwork that is both delicate, and powerful. Marzanna's story is one of tragedy, self destruction, and heartbreak, forcing her to reflect through the mirror on her morally grey deeds. |
