Extinction, Destruction, Greed, and Deception

From my research on the plastic pollution crisis and the various issues surrounding the fishing industry, I chose four fish species to model my paper mache sculptures. The sockeye salmon represents habitat destruction, the Atlantic bluefin tuna represents overfishing, the orange roughy represents unethical, deceptive, and misleading names used in the fishing and restaurant industry, and the kiyi represents fishing to extinction. Each fish has a hidden plastic bottle as the base, representing the plastic littering the oceans and waterways which is consumed by wildlife, which is then consumed by humans, who end up unknowingly consuming millions of microplastics.
