Field Strawberries and Old TearsLooking back on my childhood, some of my most vivid memories are of picking berries off the lush sides of forest trails, admiring the web of beautiful and delicate small plants. Now growing up and struggling to figure out who I am, it is both heartwarming and tear-jerking to reconnect with those little moments and pour out the intricate beauty of the underbrush into a painting. This piece draws on Khokhloma painting style and is an abstract manifestation of all that is closest to me, while simultaneously exploring emotions of longing, despair, and natural awe at life. |
