Can't Let You Rest

I created this piece as a criticism of sorts against myself. I find I often struggle with letting things go, particularly past connections. In this piece I depicted that with the skeleton, a literal dead relationship. There is blood under the man's fingernails to imply that they have desperately dug the skeleton up with their bare hands, only hurting himself in the process. Due to an inability to let go, the pure white of the skeleton is besmirched by blood and dirt. The stark shadows and background serve to intensify the scene, making it feel disorienting and unpleasant. I modelled the man in this piece after my own appearance.
